Description

1969 Triumph Spitfire Mk3 2500. Welcome to the sale of my unique and special one-off-build Spitfire Mk3, in its original colour of wedgewood blue, which was comprehensively restored over a 9-year period. No expense spared and built to near concourse standard but heavily reengineered. Everything is new or thoroughly restored. My ambition was to build the best Mk3 Spitfire possible as a testament to my first Triumph, a Mk3 Spitfire when I was 20. I loved that car and have been a keen Triumph enthusiast ever since. Bought in 2007 and completed in 2016, I've done around 2700 miles since and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. It has won a few best-in-show awards and other trophies. However, I'm struggling a bit now as it's become evident, I've out aged the car, hence the tough decision to advertise for sale. Don't ask how much I spent, and the hours invested, it wasn't about that. It was a nostalgic build never to be sold but as said above, needs must! It's not been used much over the last 3-4 years, and really needs to be in regular use to keep everything working in tip top condition. Never been out in the wet and has always been kept in a warm dry garage under its own quality car cover. Key stages of the restoration are documented in the car's Facebook page, ( Spitfire MarkThree ). The photo albums section shows each of the key stages in the restoration and how much work was done. As you can imagine, this car is great fun to drive with loads of low-end torque. The column PAS makes the car handling feel easily manageable and comfortable. I have three lever arch full of the car's restoration history, bills, designs etc etc. The electrical wiring circuit diagram is printed and available. Of course, there are hundreds of photos which detail all stages of the restoration. Those who know their Triumphs will testify that the chassis cars are not luxury limousines, so don't expect a soft cosy ride. But if you want to buy a totally one-off special Spitfire, probably the best available, and have real fun cruising country lanes with power to boot, then this is all you need. There are no dents or dinks, just the evidence beginnings of a car which has been lightly used. It's been sat a lot of its recent life so a few squeaks are evident but I'm sure these with use will soon disappear through regular use. It goes without saying, serious buyers only please. Next MOT due 05/07/2018, Blue, 5+ owners, £22,500
