Description

There are lots of Boxsters out there for sale and many 'experts' on YouTube - do your research, and see several cars before buying. Don't believe all the experts online, as many have never actually owned one or ever driven any of the cars, they claim to know so much about. I bought this Porsche UK car ten years ago after seeing three other cars, and have loved most of the time we've had together. I say most of the time, as if you're thinking of owning a car like this, you HAVE to budget for maintenance. I recommend at least 1,000/ year. Some people buy a Porsche like this and assume that it's the same as running a Golf. It isn't. If you do most or even some of the maintenance yourself, you will save a lot of money, but neglect things like oil changes at your engine's peril. 986 cars are all great to drive and own, regardless of engine sizes. Later cars like this feature improvements. This is a late 986 (986.2) 2.7 (non-S) 5 speed manual Arctic silver with 17" wheels, in very good condition. I have maintained most of the nuts and bolts on it for the last ten years, regardless of cost. It has had oil changes throughout every year of ownership. I have replaced the water pump, changed the IoS, MAF sensor, filters (every year), premium Michelin Pilot Sport N3 tyres, had the wheels re -coated, saddle-soaped the seats, polished the bodywork, replaced anti-roll bar bushes, drop links, tie bars, wheel bearings (front) track rod ends, brake rebuilds, brake fluid changes (including clutch), gear lever mechanism overhaul, various pipework, waxed key metal parts underneath, serviced hood mechanism, re-proofed the hood. There's reems of paperwork to back up all of the work, parts and care lavished on this car! The air con has been recently been serviced, the CD/radio works, seat heating works, hood works, 2 keys. The car has factory rear parking sensors, Boxster Anniversary 'S' optional exhaust (factory option), cruise control and full trip computer. Have a look at all the pictures and watch the video. Lastly, let's talk IMS bearings. I have NOT changed this and to be honest, I would ONLY bother doing it when changing the clutch. The clutch on this car works well. There are a lot of scare stories online from the experts, but I have driven this car for over 20,000 miles with no issues. The car has had regular oil changes, so the IMS is OK. Despite what 'armchair experts might think', IMS failure is rare, just ask around at Porsche events. Next MOT due 16/02/2025, Silver, 5+ owners, £8,495
