KEY FACTS
This Ford Mustang Boss 302 is an iconic 1970s pony car, finished in a vibrant colour scheme and benefiting from a comprehensive restoration and engine rebuild. It is powered by a replacement naturally aspirated 302ci (5.0-litre) V8, producing up to 290bhp, driven through the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. First registered in the USA in January 1970, this car was imported to the UK in 2018 and re-registered with the DVLA. The odometer shows 86,828 miles, but this is not warranted.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
Developed to meet homologation requirements to compete in Trans Am racing, the Mustang Boss 302 was Ford's response to the success of the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 in the 5.0-litre and under SCCA class. The high-performance Boss 302 V8 featured an engine with solid lifters, four-bolt main crankshaft bearings and canted valve heads, as well as a four-speed manual transmission, a lower ride height, front disc brakes, larger sway bars, heavy-duty spindles, reinforced shock towers, a front spoiler and a rear wing. This car is finished in Grabber Orange, with black 'hockey stick' stripes and the optional horizontal rear window shade. It rides on a set of 15-inch wheels, finished in black with silver spokes and lips, and wrapped with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tyres. The cabin features a new full Deluxe interior, trimmed in black leatherette, complemented by wood trim inlays.
Equipment includes a dual exhaust, a shaker bonnet scoop, a Hurst shifter, heating and ventilation controls, and an FM stereo. Accompanying the vehicle will be its owner's handbook, a Haynes repair manual, a deluxe Marti report, a copy of a previous Wisconsin certificate of title, a temporary Wisconsin registration plate, and a collection of sales and maintenance invoices.
CONDITION
Condition can be seen clearly in photographs provided. Two small dents in the boot lid; the interior has been retrimmed. The most recent MOT test was on 25 September 2018 at 86,818 miles, which was a first-time pass with no advisories.
SERVICE HISTORY
The engine was rebuilt in 2023 at 86,828 miles, and the car has not been driven since. The car received a nut-and-bolt restoration, replacing or reconditioning all components where required. This has included a new full Deluxe interior with new seat covers, new carpets, headlining and centre console; all new brakes, new stainless-steel exhaust, new suspension arms and steering arms, electric power steering installation and a new battery.
