This Golf GTI has been beautifully restored to near-new condition. It is finished in Monza Blue Metallic. The car has been treated to a full restoration over four years. The body was stripped to a bare-metal shell, before new sills, front wings, boot lid rear wheel arches, battery tray and rear panel were welded in. The body was repainted in the original colour, inside and out, to an incredibly high standard. New seals were fitted throughout and all reusable parts either vapour-blasted or sand-blasted and powdercoated, or stripped and plated. The engine was rebuilt. It was treated to new bearings, the head was reconditioned, and new water pump, alternator, starter motor 3and distributor were fitted, along with a clutch, washer bottle, coolant tank, battery, radiator, fuel lines and more. A Jetex stainless exhaust looks and sounds great. The suspension was refreshed, with new dampers, springs and bushes, using a KW 40mm lowering kit. A genuine power steering system was fitted. New brake discs, pads, calipers, pipes and hoses were fitted. 16-inch BBS-style wheels are a departure from original but look the part. Inside, the original carpets were refitted, over new sound-deadening. Original ‘rainbow’ seats and door cards in excellent condition were sourced. A new heater matrix was fitted, with new control cables. A Mototipo steering wheel is a nice touch, as is a modern Blaupunkt Madrid 200BT head unit. The car has a steel sunroof. Every part has been documented on a spreadsheet and we have dozens of photos of the work. The restoration was finished in 2024 and the car since driven 7000 miles.
