Description
Mercedes has always had a flair for style, and the CLA Shooting Brake takes that DNA and stretches it into a “swoopy estate” form. With its long roof line, coupé-like sloping rear, frameless window styling, and aggressive AMG Line detailing (front grille, sportier bumpers, alloy wheels), it manages to be sporty and elegant. It turns heads without shouting, which is harder than it sounds. This is a car that gives you that premium-car feeling before you even open the door.
Inside, the cabin continues the story: high-quality materials, sharp design touches, ambient lighting, and tech that feels modern. You can tell this isn’t just a station wagon—they’ve cared about details.
?? Engine, Performance & Drive
The CLA200 with the 1.3-litre petrol (sometimes called 1.33 depending on market), especially in AMG Line Premium trim, is definitely more than just show.
Acceleration & engine feel: With about ~161 bhp and decent torque (approx. 250 Nm in certain trims), the CLA200 has enough punch to make motorway merging and overtaking feel confident. Acceleration to 62 mph is in the ~8.5s range (often quoted ~8.4s)
Noise & refinement: At low revs the engine and cabin are well controlled; once you push it harder there’s more noise, especially above ~3,000-rpm.
Ride, handling & comfort: The Shooting Brake is more planted than many hatch-backs, especially due to its wider track and lowered AMG Line suspension (if so equipped), plus good stability at speed. On smoother roads, it's composed. On rougher surfaces it can show its sporty underpinnings — harder hits, stiffer ride. But the trade-off is sharper steering, more feedback, more “in touch” feel than a bland estate.
