Mercedes Benz W123 200 1983, so it comes with free road tax and does not need an MOT. However I prefer to get a professional's opinion so I have kept it MOTd. It will come with a fresh MOT. It is finished in a lovely cherry red colour. This car has been the subject of a thorough restoration with a 'windows out' respray and all the new parts listed here. As it approached the 200,000 mile mark I thought I would treat it to a new cam chain and this was done at a Mercedes garage using Mercedes parts of course. The 5 wheels are alloys with good tyres. Note that the oil pressure is 3 Bar at tick over at running temperature. (photo). The engine starts with no hesitation at all and runs smooth as you would want it to, and the automatic gearbox changes perfectly. The ATF is red, not brown. There are two sets of keys. (i.e two keys as each key fits all the locks)
Good points:
There is no rust of any consequence as you can see from the engine bay photos. The underside is solid throughout. No rusty or filled wheel arches.
All the new parts listed above. The driver's seat has had new matching upholstery stitched in where they commonly wear a hole from the driver's pocket button.
There is a one inch high pile of service and MOT records, parts invoices and so on.
AA members handbook dated 1983, same as the car.
The car is in excellent working order apart from these few things:
"Less than perfect" points:
Central locking doesn't work, but the keys do!
Heater blower only works on maximum speed. With the speed control knob on other speed settings the inside does get hot with the natural air flow into the car.
The sun roof is in good working order but sometimes it lets a few drops of rain on to the driver's seat. Obviously keeping it under a cover would prevent this.
There is a bit of wear to the driver's door frame seal. (photo)
The spare tyre was on the front and had some side wear so the tracking was done and now the front tyres wear evenly. Spare is still legal.
