Description
I have owned this "Red edition" MR2 since 2013. I had the engine conversion carried out in 2015 when the car had covered 70k. The engine is a Toyota 1MZ FE from a Camry. This conversion was based upon a concept car that Toyota built for the Tokyo Motor show in 2000. This is a rare opportunity to buy a V6 mk3 MR2. I believe the current cost to carry out this conversion is in the region of 20k. The conversion involves reworking the engine bay to accommodate the larger motor and adding a new engine mount. The rear subframe is modified for clearance. A new inspection hatch has been created in the bulkhead to give access from above to the front bank of cylinders. In my ownership the car has had a new fabric roof, new KYB shock absorbers and Tein lowering springs, new handbrake cables and new brake calipers, stainless steel brake lines, new brake discs and EBC yellowstuff pads, new crank position sensor, coil packs and upgraded Toyota PCV valve. It has had a new steering universal joint, power steering pipes, front wishbones, front and rear drop links and track rod ends. The engine was taken out in 2020 to investigate some oil burning with a brief to fix anything needed. The heads were sent off to be skimmed, pressure tested and valve stem seals replaced. The bores were honed and new Hastings piston rings were fitted. No other work was required. Other extras include; Megillian underbody brace, Custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat. Large capacity Mishimoto radiator, Limited slip differential, Steering wheel professionally retrimmed in Alcantara, Custom carbon fibre door pulls, Custom wind deflectors for windows. Red leather interior, Custom made instrument fascia, Pre facelift front bumper with lower lip, TTE style side skirts and rear spats with rubber trim and rear bootlid spoiler. Jaguar XKR Bonnet vents and Yokohama AD08RS tyres (225/195). Next MOT due 26/09/2024, Silver, 5+ owners, £8,000
