We bought this car in 2020 to see whether we could live with an electric car - we would now never go back to anything else. It is a fantastic little car, very quick and nimble in traffic, with all the quality you would expect of a BMW. Although the model has been around since 2014, it still looks futuristic. Described by BBC Top Gear as "still one of the most complete, cleverest and best thought through electric cars of them all", and by Autocar as a "future classic", it is built around a carbon fibre monocoque chassis of the type used in F1 race cars, whilst the interior is largely made from recycled materials. It has metallic grey paint, with black gloss bonnet and tailgate, and an electric tilting/sliding sunroof. We have a home charger, powered in part by solar panels, which means we can charge for free in the summer months, but running costs are a fraction of those of a petrol or diesel car in any event. It will charge to 80% in about 30 minutes using a 50Kw public charger. Exempt from road tax, ULEZ and clean air charges. We typically get a range of about 70 miles from the battery alone, but the range extender (a small petrol motor which re-charges the battery when required) enables that to be extended to around 140 miles. It also eliminates "range anxiety". Carefully looked after, garaged when not in use, and with a full service history. Reason for sale is to get something a bit bigger with a longer range.
