Description

Here we have a 1968 VW Beetle 1300 (1640cc) in Lotus White. I took ownership back in 2017 and have loving cared for it, giving it a home in dry storage in my garage at home and only comes out for the odd run and car show whenever the sun shines. It's now time to find a new custodian to enjoy and take care of her, she is known as Sabine in memory Sabine Schmitz - AKA "Queen of the Nurburgring" Over the past 6 yrs. I have tweaked the car adding sound deadening inside and installing a new Rubber Flooring, Door Cards, Seats (Jaguar) mounted (i.e. Welded) to the original seat mounts that are still adjustable. When I took ownership of the Bug it had 98,600 miles on the clock and in November of 2017, I had Air Cooled Scotland undertake a Type 1 Top End Engine upgraded, taking the 1300cc to 1640cc, which gives the car a little more poke, giving it more than power required for today's roads and junctions. The Upgrade included the following: A VW Heritage Rebuild kit and includes a Upgraded Carburettor, SCAT - CB Performance Manifold / New Ignition Kit / Stainless Exchange Studs / New Alternator - Engine Miles at that point was 98,701. I rolled the clock in the spring of 2022, and since then it has only done 378 miles, so all in all it has done 1,676 miles since the rebuild. I has also recently had a full service, where the hand break cables where also renewed. It sits on a sweet set of Gas Burners supplied by John Brown Wheels and are wrapped in Michelin Cross Climate Tyres. She is solid though out and I can supply further imagery of the work done inside and of the underside if required. It also has a refurbished Blaupunkt period radio installed that supports an audio input giving you the option to listen to digital music as well as the purr of an air cooled engine. All in all a very tidy car for its age, it has a few bruises that does not belie its age and is really solid throughout. There are a few cosmetic things to be done or not, but are not fundamental to the day to day running of the car and would give the new owner the opportunity to make it their own. I have loads of receipts and a file of invoices that documents what's been done. It's a low maintenance classic, which turns heads wherever she goes and puts a smile on your face as well as many passers by. It runs like a dream and is very reasonable to insure and to fuel. Note: As it's over 40 years old it requires - NO MOT - Disreagard the A/T standrard text insert - No Swaps or tyre kickers .. Next MOT due 04/06/2018, Part service history, White, 5+ owners, £9,975
