This Landy was last taxed for road use in 1989. We rescued it from the chickens. The body was surprisingly good, the chassis totally knackered. The bulkhead was repairable, and the engine complete. Nine years later, we drove it out of our workshop under its own power. Fully restored bodywork, fully rebuilt engine, converted for unleaded petrol, new rocker gear, rebored, etc., etc. Now with a Richard's galvanised chassis, totally new suspension and steering gear, brakes uprated to 109 spec at the front. Everything so far as possible restored original, but even so, we spent over 13K on new parts. The bulkhead and body has been sandblasted to bare, repaired where necessary, than painted inside and out including underneath, with epoxy etching primer, two pack undercoat and finished with Marine grade epoxy paint. Hollow sections filled with cavity wax. Welded and brazed joints were sealed with epoxy to prevent water ingress. Every effort has been made to ensure this Landrover will last at least another 60 years. Too many new parts to list, but we have the invoices, and a complete photographic record of the rebuild. All of the cappings were regalvanised, new hood sticks and hood, with a proper seatbelt bar added for inertia reel belts.
