FOR SALE. RS2000 Mk. 6 - RESTORATION PROJECT. Greetings fellow Escort RS2000 enthusiasts. As I understand it, there are less than 450 of these RS2000 2WD versions in existence. The private plate is included. Over all the years, it never broke down and left me stranded, ever. In near original condition; I deliberately kept her as standard as possible. Clear side repeaters was the only modification! Saying that, it has a de-cat pipe in the exhaust system now, which I put in for the last few months that I ran it daily, simply because the original cat. collapsed and I had the pipe lying around, a gift from the first owner, so I gave it a go. After 19 years of ownership, she was my daily runner from 2004 to 2015 and has been dry garaged for the past 8 years... waiting for restoration time. Sadly, I have finally realised that I will never get around to doing this project, so it's time now to move her on to somebody who can bring her back to former glory. As a project, I think this RS has great potential because most of the work required is floor pan and bodywork related. Unfortunately, the entire underside is soft with rust. The reason this happened is because I had it undersealed in the wintertime (2005), which apparently sealed in the moisture. With hindsight it was a very stupid thing to do. So, wherever there was underseal applied (2005) there is the risk of rot. The last time I was under it properly to examine the underside, with an experienced mechanic assessing the condition, was in 2018/19. Whilst investigating my options a the time, I was told the welding work needed to make her roadworthy could cost up to 5,000, and, another comprehensive option is to source a new shell. I think that this car is an example which could be very well suited to a person who has the interest and means to invest in a thorough restoration project. On the upside, the car rolls and runs well.
