Description

Old age and ill health oblige me to sell my MGB GT. We have owned this car for more than 20 years. Until our retirement it was used for commuting and holidays. It has reliably taken us to the south of France twice and to both extremes of the UK several times. It is an original chrome bumper model with wire wheels, overdrive on 3rd & 4th gears, first registered in 1971. Classed an 'Historic Vehicle' with zero road tax and no MoT required. The colour is flame red and it has a Webasco sunroof. It has completed 108,800 miles and has had 9 owners. The car has been regularly maintained and was always garaged. Maintenance over the years has included fitting stainless steel exhaust, new petrol tank petrol pump and sender, fitting spax shock absorbers of the rear, replacing the prop shaft, fitting iridium no-maintenance spark plugs, new interior trim with leather seats, complete brake overhaul, new wheels and hub splines, differential shims replaced, replaced clutch and much, much more. The running oil pressure is 60psi and there is no oil loss between oil changes. In 2010 a complete body overhaul was undertaken including new front wings, new rear quarter wings, new light fittings, new chrome trim, new door seals, refurbished webasco sunroof and a professional bare metal respray. To aid maintenance tasks the car is fitted with a battery isolator switch and an under-bonnet battery charging point. To improve commuting/parking the car is fitted with a remote central locking system, intermittent wiper system, hazard warning light and electric power steering. For longer journeys there is improved storage using door pockets for refreshments, over arch storage for wheel hammer, fire extinguisher etc. There have been two articles published in the 'Enjoying MG' magazine. One describing differential shim replacement and the second describing the body overhaul. The sale includes a host of spares, receipts and records for more than 20 years and a well-used copy of the Haynes maintenance manual. More detail is available for those who are genuinely interested in purchasing this special MGB. Red, 5+ owners, £11,500
