I buy and work on these Smart Cars as a hobby, have been doing them for sometime now but never one like this. Its a 450 2006 semi automatic fortwo with a Roaster engine in Mapped to 115hp. Also has towing brakes and Lights for behind a Mobile installed. Not usually what I do as a bit Old for all that tearing around but I must admit having done it and put 100 Miles on the Clock as a shake down after the rebuild, it is sooooo much fun and terrifyingly quick. I bought the Car as a non runner that had been used as a curtesy car down south, as it was about as clean as I have seen a Smart Car underneath, all coming of over 20 years old now. It was pink and was wrapped in this appealing Blue. I had a Roaster engine in the workshop and decided to have some fun with this one. Its not as easy as just popping the engine in and off you go as the ratio's of the Roaster in 4th,5th,6th are different and the ECU of the 450 needs to be told its now a Roaster and while we where at it, Giles, the specialist that programmed the Car, best guy in the country on smart cars, re-Mapped it to 115HP, (See Photos of bill) About as much as you can do without radical upgrades all round. Having done that, I overhauled the engine with new timing chain, thermostat, all new seals everywhere, Plugs, filters, Oils, etc I added some De-Cal's to suit and the Car, I think, now looks the part and runs absolutely beautifully. A joy to drive and you can hear from the 'get go' there is something different about this car. Quite throaty idling, great whine from the 3 cylinders at the top end and over taking is hysterical, as only 850 kg and belts round anything. Makes me feel I'm 18 again, grinning from ear to ear. Great fun. Has a 12 Month MOT with no advisories. Two Keys. Tow electrics on d brake installed for towing behind a Mobile. Air Con, Panoramic Glass roof.V5 in my name.35 a year Tax Ulez Compliant I'll warrant the Car, engine and gear box, labour only, for a month if your within 1 hour of me, for piece of mind, but I try and look after people as much as I can. As I said its a hobby. On this one if you want to come and have a go great but please can you get some Temp Insurance ( 20 for the day) if you want to go on the road. Do have a small concrete track of 1km here if that will do. Its MOT'd and Taxed.
