Description
Launched in 1936 as successor to the PB Midget, the TA Midget was an altogether larger and roomier car. Longer in the wheelbase at 94", the simple chassis followed established Midget practice with semi-elliptic springing all round, though the use of hydraulic dampers at the front and the adoption of Lockheed hydraulic brakes were new departures. This TA had a full ground up restoration in the 90's to the highest of the standards. The MG Red Paintwork shows a beautiful level of lustre. The bodywork has various badges and features adorning the exterior. The interior was also fully re-done in the 90's, and has been regularly treated with hide food. It is now showing a beautifullevel of patina and smells lovely! The dashboard is totally original with all the correct period instruments which are in working order. On the road the engine is smooth and the cruising speed impressive. This TA benefits from the post-war fitment of a TC engine and gearbox which was completely stripped and rebuilt during the restoration. The twin-carb 1250cc XPAG unit was superior to that of the TA and was coupled to a single-plate dry clutch and four-speed synchromesh. I have had the car for about 5 years and she is in really good condition but shows some signs of age. The hood is OK (it will never keep you dry!) but needs some attention. The car runs really well and is great fun to drive. Red, 5+ owners, £25,000
