Body: Land Rover Montalcino red, Brand new Exmoor trim canvas and hoops. Comfortable Exmoor trim seats all round with 6 individual seats in the back - far superior than the old bench seats. Engine: BMW M52 from a low millage full service history BMW 528i. This engine was fitted by Land Rover in South Africa into Defenders between 97-00 but they only made 739, 110s. This was the inspiration for this build. Having a 6 cylinder petrol lends it self to a canvas top Land Rover being smooth, quiet, and plenty powerful enough. The 2.8i being the most powerful production Defender. Gearbox: Ashcroft rebuilt R380 Transferbox: Ashcroft rebuilt LT230 with 1.6 gearing as per SA spec. Axles: Salisbury rear axle upgraded with disc brakes. Rebuilt Front axle including new swivels, CVs, shafts and upgraded callipers and vented discs.
