As an engineer, a significant amount of time and money has been spent maintaining the car mechanically in a high-quality condition, likely more so than other owners of VW Polos that are 18-years-old. The car has been in regular use, averaging approximately 5,000 miles per year. It is currently used 5-6 times a week and still received regular use at least once a week during lockdown. The car has been used for a mix of driving (motorway, A-road, city), evening the wear and usage on the car. Most trips in the car are sufficiently long enough for the engine and oil to get up to optimal operating temperature. When driving, I have always ensured the car is driven carefully and gently until the engine has gotten up to temperature. Where possible, OEM or OEM quality parts have always been fitted to the car. The car has also visited multiple VW Group specialist garages, including PSC Autocentres and VASS Bath.
