Description

This is a car you can jump in tomorrow and drive to the other side of Europe. Bought for long distance holidays, which it has excelled at. In a couple of years it has gone to the Scottish Highlands, the French Alps twice, the Pyrenees, the French Riviera and the Loire valley. Only selling because we're consolidating 2 cars to 1. The larger petrol engines of these facelift cars have 700 pounds annual road tax and the diesels are not ULEZ/LEZ compliant so these petrol 200 Kompressors are now the sweet spot of the range. The V6 petrols also have a notorious reliability issue with their balancer shafts. The main major reliability issue for these cars relates to the engine timing chain, which was recently done, so although this car has higher mileage it can be used without fear of an impending expensive repair bill and/or breaking down. Loads of work has been done to the car in both my ownership and the previous owner's. Work done by me: 700 pound Carplay / DAB / phone / Aux installation - can't be done cheaper as it requires a 300 pound cable to work. Brand new alloy wheels, 20mm spacers to improve appearance, all-season high quality tyres from Vredestein - proven effective in the French Alp snow. New front springs (H&R, lower ride height) and dampers, Rear air springs, rebuilt differential, parking brake fixed, new brake pedal sensor (needed for cruise control and ABS/ESP). Two annual services at Mercedes specialists. The previous owner was a Mercedes specialist garage in SW London who used it for commuting and did loads of mechanical recommissioning including:engine timing chain, tensioner and associated work, brake discs and pads all round, fuel pump, front balljoints, folding exterior mirrors fitted. The interior is in very good clean condition with no noticeable wear to the cloth seats. The car has aircon, cruise control, auto-dimming rear view mirror, a pop-up cupholder and lots of storage to make long journeys relaxing. The handling is really excellent after the new front springs and dampers were fitted and having the lightest engine of the range. Bad points - there are some scratches on the roof from a previous owner, rear wheelarches have some surface rust in the lower front sections. Paint is generally in good condition and is smooth after clay bar treatment but there are some minor marks here and there consistent with a 17 year old car. The rear parking sensors have stopped working. A fantastic family car. Next MOT due 08/02/2025, Silver, 5+ owners, £4,500
