For sale is my 1993 R129 Mercedes 280SL. The car has been a Channel Islands car its whole life, first registered in Guernsey, and subsequently imported to Jersey in 2010. As a result of this, the car has a very low mileage of 54,000. It's also evident that the car has been impeccably maintained throughout its life, with many invoices totalling thousands from Jacksons Garage, a reputable Channel Islands specialist. Most notably, the common but often overlooked due to cost wiring loom replacement, being done in 2021. A major service was also carried out last year, along with a transmission service. Tyres were replaced last year too, and have done under 500 miles since. The underside is absolutely immaculate, far cleaner than cars I've seen that are just a few years old. The roads in the Channel Islands aren't gritted, aiding the preservation of their cars. I imported the car early last year having bought it off of a friend who lives on the Island. It still retains its Jersey plates, but can be registered with the DVLA at any point as it is customs cleared, and I have the NOVA certificate. As a result, the new owner will be the first on the V5. Although not necessary, I had the car MOTd in April of last year to further assess its condition, and the car passed with both no advisories, and many a complement from the tester. With the majority of cars of this age, there are still bits to be done here and there. Main points are the plastic in the soft top, and the seats being patched in certain areas. The overall condition is very impressive, and I'm sure with little improvements in places, it will make one of the cleanest R129s in the country. I would love to keep this car, but I have another R129 in Spain, and several other classics here, unfortunately this isn't getting as much use as I had hoped.
