Description

Contact best by email. More info on website elise4sale and then put dotty co and a dotty uk on it. Welcome to the sale of my 1997 Series 1 Lotus Elise. I bought this car in 2002 with 27k miles on the clock and have taken it up to 85k over the last 22 years. In the early days this was my daily driver and I used it to commute to work all year round. In all this time the car has only let me down once when on the road - in 2005 a radiator hose popped off. From 2016 it spent 6 years laid up in my garage as I ran a TVR for a while and had other projects on the go. In 2022 I started the task of putting it back on the road and it went on a few trips to Steve Williams in Maidenhead, as well as had some work done in my home garage. Over the last 2 years, I have put around 15k pounds into this car and it's running as well as it ever has. Sadly, I just don't have any time to enjoy it anymore. Since I've bought the car it's had a number of useful upgrades which have made it significantly better than standard, but hasn't changed the characteristics so much that it doesn't resemble it's original self. The engine cylinder head has been ported and polished, and been given a set of Piper cams. The intake has a VVC plenum, larger throttle body and induction kit. There is a full sports exhaust system including a solid 4-2-1 manifold. Suspension has been upgraded to adjustable Nitrons with a stiffer anti-roll bar. Back when I had it on the rollers it made 155bhp which makes a hugely positive difference to how this car pulls, especially at higher speeds. I have added a carpet set and sound deadening to the interior which absolutely transformed what it was like on long journeys - you hear a lot less of what you don't want to hear, and a lot more of what you do! Considering the cars age, the cosmetic condition is very good. The paint shines nicely and looks younger than it should. However, there is some cracking forming on the front clam between the headlight and the indicator. It's not that noticeable from a few steps back but at some point you'll want to take care of it. The wheels could now do with a refurb, if I was to do them today I would probably put them back to standard silver. Mechanically the car is well sorted having covered only 2500 miles over the last couple of years during the period all the work was taking place. The original MMC discs still have plenty of life left in them, as do the pads. Next MOT due 23/02/2025, Silver, 4 owners, £17,500
