Description

This delightful Ford Escort Mexico has the chassis number BFATPU00330. The PU prefix confirms an AVO build date of June 1974. The Mexico still features its original Kent engine with number PU00330. The car was first registered on the 4th October 1974. The delay between the two dates could be on account of Mexico demand tailing off considerably once the RS2000 was launched in July 1973., Seven former keepers no doubt enjoyed the charms of this Mexico between 1974 and 2009. In October 2009 last owner, Peter, acquired the Escort. At this point he embarked on a thorough restoration which was carefully documented, both with written notes and accompanying photographs. This diligent process has resulted in the sublime example that is offered here today., This MKI Escort Mexico has remained in the same enthusiastic and knowledgeable ownership since 2009. To the uninitiated the Type 49 bodyshell of the Mexico looked just like any other MKI Escort. Mostly it was the same, externally but there were a few subtle changes. At the front a special two-piece front bumper was used that allowed increased airflow to the engine bay. The radiator grill was finished in a sporty looking black rather than unfinished alloy and the wheel arches were very slightly flared. Mexico badging was, of course, present and Rallye Sport alloy wheels and stripe kit were optional extras. This example looks fresh from a restoration and appears to gleam brightly in its deceptively named Sebring Red (N) livery. All the above-mentioned Mexico attributes are here, and more. The more being a big pair of Cibie Super Oscar rally lights with painted bowls and a pair of chromed bullet style wing mirrors. Surprisingly no wing mirrors were standard with the Mexico. The standard of paintwork and bodywork is very good indeed. There are a few very minor blemishes if you look really hard, but panel gaps look consistent, and no dents or dings. This vibrant example looks like every Mexico should. It is a little better specified than the early, relatively austere models but much the more appealing for it. Simply Stunning. Clean bodywork, Grey Cloth interior - Excellent Condition, Red, Low Mileage Part Exchange's Considered. Please Visit Our Website at www.carsofwinkton.co.uk, £49,900
