Description

*Featured in the September 2024 issue of Classic Cars (see pics)*Registered on Porsche Classic Car register (Sheffield OPC)*Private Plate included in sale! P911. he 996.2 Targa is one of the rarer 996s; 1,812 were sold in the UK in 2003 from a total of 29,428 across the whole range with only a few Targa's remaining today. This model is the much sought after manual version in one of the better colour combo's (not black/silver); lapis blue with graphite grey (light) interior having the porsche logo emobssed on the headrests and matching plush carpet floor mats. Have the best of both worlds - roof closed when its raining, open air driving when its not (if it starts raining, no need to slow down as you can close the roof at any speed!); if its cold, turn the heated seats on full, turn the heating up and enjoy open air driving all year round. Having low mileage for the year, 2003, of 74,400, a previous owner pre-empted the major 'problem' of the IMS bearing by having it replaced. The engine is smooth and pulls like a train all the way through the rev range. Lots of paperwork included - see PIC.Cheaper car tax than the later 997 (710/735) at 415 a year, the car also qualifies for Classic Insurance (~700): a benefit over normal insurance is a guaranteed value amongst other things. This is a drivers car, no electronic do-hickies helping you here; a drive over the Scottish Borders to Edinburgh in 3-4 inches of snow and I was twitching more than the car: 1 wheel spin when I stopped on a hill at some traffic lights! It never missed a beat and never stepped out at the back end: it faired better than many of the modern cars (incl. BMWs, Fords, Audi - obviously not the 4WD variants) strewn across the roads!Normal insurance is cheaper than one would expect, circa 300/400 Nov 2024, should you choose to go that route means that owning a 911 is not as expensive as one first imagines. Work over the last 3 years include: *Mesh grill (fitted behind bumper to protect radiators/air-con compressor (Revolution Porsche, Leeds)) *New air-con pipe (front to back) (Revolution Porsche, Leeds) *Minor Service (Revolution Porsche, Leeds) *Ceramic Coating (March 2022)U *pgraded stereo to flip screen DAB, Android Auto/Apple Car Play (original CDR23 stereo will be included in the sale) *4 Michelin PS3 (August 2023) - plenty of tread remaining. *Major Service (November 2023) (German Autocentre, Sheffield) *New Exhaust flexi-pipe (both sides, Top Gear Performance, Doncaster). Next MOT due 08/12/2024, Blue, 5+ owners, £17,995
