The Triumph TR6 is a classic British sports car produced by Triumph Motor Company from 1968 to 1976. It’s one of the most popular models in the Triumph TR (for “Triumph Roadster”) series and is highly regarded for its classic styling, robust inline-six engine, and excellent handling characteristics. The TR6 has a timeless, masculine design characterised by a squared-off Kamm-tail rear (a design element that improves aerodynamics by “cutting off” the tail) and a long, sleek bonnet. The styling was overseen by the German firm Karmann, which helped create the distinctive TR6 look. Offered with steel wheels, and a wood-paneled dashboard and door cappings, giving the TR6 a classic and luxurious feel. Powered by a 2.5-litre inline-six engine, producing around 150 horsepower, which offers good torque, giving the car strong acceleration and making it enjoyable for spirited driving. Built on a body-on-frame design, the TR6 is considered a sturdy car with excellent handling for its time, aided by its independent rear suspension. Rear-wheel drive with a well-balanced weight distribution contributed to its sporty feel on winding roads. The TR6 enjoys strong support from enthusiast groups and is a frequent sight at classic car shows and vintage racing events. The Triumph TR6 has retained a significant place in classic car culture, admired for its rugged looks, lively performance, and quintessentially British charm.
