Announced in 2010, VW joined forces with Adidas to bring customers a modern day limited edition GolF, much like the earlier Pirelli Editions., The majority of the Adidas editions were produced for the LHD markets, meaning RHD examples were made only in small numbers – rumoured to be only 350qty RHD cars for the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM). Having never been released in the UK, the JDM examples are ideal with them being RHD & having much less salt & therefore no corrosion issues., This example had a great underside condition & is finished in the fantastic Oryx (pearl) white., Within the history file are 2x keys, all booklets, CarVX report, Japanese service history, , To find an example with all of the paperwork/history from Japan is not an easy task., Body & Paintwork, For the Adidas Edition, customers had a choice of colours in the LHD variant, however it is said that all of the 350qty RHD JDM cars were available only in the Oryx White, which is a really nice pearl white., The Adidas edition features specific 18″ Serron wheels, which are appropriately named after a Finnish race course., This example presents very well, with the paint having a lovely deep pearl & the wheels having been freshly refurbished (with new premium tyres)., All badges, lights & glass also all present very well, with only some very minor delaminating around the very edge of the windscreen being present., A new genuine VW UK front registration plate holder has been fitted, so a UK size front plate is fitted rather than a square JDM size front plate – a much better look in our opinion., A great looking car, in very nice condition., Interior & Trim, Inside, the Adidas edition came with a fully customised interior., Inner seat panels consist of fabric in GTI & Adidas design, with the bolsters being upholstered in leather & the head restraints in Flash red., Front seats are also heated & height adjustable., Colour-contrasting door plates & special interior accents in aluminium continue the interior's personalization., For DSG-equipped models, a gearshift grip takes the form of golf ball design similar to the first generation GTI., Being a VW the build quality is of course very good & everything operates just as it should do., Floor mats are fitted, all carpets are in good order, as are all trims & of course the seats, with just very minor wear on the bolster piping of the drivers seat., Professionally fitted touchscreen Pioneer unit with Apple car play/Android auto – Rear view camera – DAB radio, Engine, The Mk6 GTi was already plentiful on reliability & performance, so the engine of the Adidas edition remains unchanged., 210bhp, coupled with the 6 speed DSG gearbox means 0-60mph in around 6.5 seconds, so no slouch., The Mk6 Golf GTi is an excellent car to drive, never feeling strained & always feeling smooth., This example is unmodified (although these cars can be tuned to much higher power with relative ease) & has recently had a full service so is ready to be enjoyed., Cold start reveals a whisper quiet engine, with no unwanted noises, no smoking, either on start up, or indeed when warm on the road., The engine bay itself presents well as can be seen in the pictures., Running Gear, All running gear is in great condition, as you would fully expect being a Japanese import, which are renowned for having very good condition undercarriages., The car drives very well, with excellent handling & braking., The DSG gearbox is without any issues, with smooth & fast gear changes.
