Description
If you are looking to buy one of these cars, I won't go on about the performance as you'll know all about this.
What I'll say is what I've done to the car in the last 16 years:
Sagging roof lining replaced, upgraded intercooler pump, all 4 wheels dipped and refurbed (they are unmarked), both rear wings and front drivers wing replaced, boot, bonnet, both bumpers and passenger front wing re-sprayed.
COMMAND replaced an Alpine unit (WD997) fitted. Nokia 6150 is in the old phone dock, just for fun! Reversing camera fitted (integrated into the Alpine).
I e-mailed AMG and got the name of the person who built my engine and got the name plate from AMG - so it's real and not a copy.
I also wrote a article on Pistonheads:
If you read the the article, I say my next car will be an Aston - well I finally made it happen, but I can't justify putting the AMG into storage.
The Good:
112,563 miles, that works out at around 4894 miles a year for a 02 car.
Two keys, full-service history from Mercedes Benz Derby/Nottingham. A series of poor customer service issues led me to Mertrux in Derby, the car has been looked after by them for years.
Plenty of life in the tyres, AC works, all electric items work as they should: Memory seats, Climate, electric windows, sunroof all work
MOT until 09/2025.
Original space saver has been replaced with an alloy wheel
I'll include a trickle charger
The service message for an "A" service has been triggered by time, not mileage. Once the car has a new owner, I'll get the A service completed at Mertrux, so the new owner has two years before the next service.
The not so good (being open and honest):
Drivers base heated seat doesn't work.
The car has a "character" in that the secondary air pump has an intermittent fault - but don't let that put you off! I discussed this on the MBclub forum here:
I replaced the air pump (which is a large hair dryer) and the relay, but the car still has the intermittent issue. As you can see from the date of the post (2019), this in no way affects how the car drives so I just chalked it up as a character quirk and reset the MIL when it pops on - which is randomly and this has never affected the car when it went for an MOT/service in the last six years!
I have the all the old parts for in the sale. The car is not some bucket of rust, so she's 7950
