Saab 9-3 Vector Sport 2.0t Manual (photos to follow).
Owned since November 2023. I spent ages looking for a decent example having researched extensively. I'm selling it only because I have come to the conclusion that it's too much of a pain not to have an estate as my son's bike no longer fits in the boot. I would buy another 9-3 petrol estate in a flash if I could find one as nice as this for sensible money.
This year (2006) is the sweet spot as it doesn't suffer from the 'soft valve' issue which I think affects later cars. The interior materials are the older harder wearing variety (oddly the 2008 onward interiors seem to fall apart quicker). And it has the updated dash which is much nicer than the earlier cars with all the telephone buttons.
Extras (beyond standard Vector Sport trim) include an amp and upgraded stereo / 6 cd changer which I think was an option.
It has the 180bhp engine and a six speed manual box. It's lovely to drive, very smooth and powerful.
Body work is in really good shape (bar a couple of minor things which I've photographed). No rust (that I can see!)
Service history is extensive - I've photographed it. Since I've had it, I have serviced it once myself and swapped out the power steering pump as the previous one started weeping.
It's just gone through an MOT needing only a bulb and wiper blades.
On the advisory they've put 'minor oil leak' which I was a bit miffed about - the 'oil' is actually power steering fluid which I got everywhere (including the drive!) when changing the pump The engine side is dry. You're welcome to poke around with a torch.
The tester also said the exhaust is blowing slightly at the back but I can't find any obvious leaks.
I've also changed the air con condenser and drier.
The alloy wheels are unusual (Aero spec?) and look good from a distance but need a refurb. One of them (on the rear) is slightly out of true which causes a very slight rumble at speed.
Two keys.
There are probably one or two other minor things I've missed, but it's very good value for the money, lovely to drive, economical for a quick 2.0T petrol (35mpg ish mixed). Overall an honest decent car which I'm sure you will enjoy owning as I have. Please do come and take a look yourself. Viewing welcome in Sevenoaks. Test drive with proof of licence / insurance.
