Description
An incredible example of the 996 Targa that I have owned for 7 years during which time I have spent many hours either improving or replacing many parts. There is simply too many replaced items to list, but all is documented in two large record folders that date back to when the car was owned by it's original owner. The engine was totally rebuilt at 96,500 miles as it suffered the all too common bore score. I advise that anyone seeking to buy a 996 have a bore scope carried out as it only costs around 150 pounds. This would have saved me the 9 thousand pounds it cost me to have all the work done.
I have fitted a blue tooth cd head unit, but have retained all the original sound and navigation system so that it can be put back to original if chosen.
The exhaust boxes, which are often rotten, have been replaced with modified Porsche original boxes. This was carried out by Gert from Carnewal in Belgium. The system gives an increase of 10-20 bhp. I have fitted a short shift gear stick which really improves the drive.
The interior has been refitted with alcantara and carbon. The original burr wood finish is still in place and can be uncovered if chosen.
The Pirelli P Zero N rated tyres are all in good order with many thousands of miles left on them.
The Targa roof works very smoothly and more importantly it does not leek.
Unlike most, the air-conditioning works very well bringing the cockpit down to 10 degrees even during this hot weather.
As stated, everything works as it should including the door handle courtesy lights , sun visor lights and all dashboard lights.
My recent retirement and pension maturity means it's time to upgrade and whoever buys my Porsche can look forward to diving one of the best 996's available. Happy to take it out for a test drive as it needs a run now and then.
