Don't be put off by the mileage: with 215 bhp and 500 Nm of torque, this straight-six diesel pulls like a freight train and still sips fuel like a hatchback (for an SUV). Starts first turn, runs and drives spot on, and devours motorway miles for breakfast. Engine so clean you could eat your lunch off it - regularly maintained, with no warning lights, and the M57 diesel is renowned for outlasting the bodywork.
