Description
For sale here is a superb, low-mileage example of one of BMW’s most characterful M cars – the Z3M Roadster. Powered by the legendary S50 3.2-litre straight-six from the E36 M3 Evolution, this early car develops 321bhp and revs cleanly to 7,400rpm. It’s paired with a slick 5-speed manual gearbox and delivers a truly immersive drive – compact, agile and properly quick.
Launched in 1997, the Z3M Roadster boasts serious M3 hardware (with significantly less weight), and period tests praised its handling, steering feel and rawness. It was even named ‘Top Gear’s Best Handling Car’ in period, and remains a cult favourite among enthusiasts looking for analogue thrills in a usable, road-friendly package.
This particular car is finished in iconic Estoril Blue with a two-tone black and blue leather interior – one of the defining specs for the Z3M. Having covered just 54,000 miles from new, it presents beautifully and has clearly been cherished throughout its life.
It benefits from a recently replaced blue soft-top, and also comes with the original factory hard-top, matching tonneau cover and hard-top stand which are becoming increasingly hard to find, especially in this condition.
Maintenance history is exceptional. The car boasts 11 documented services, most carried out by BMW main dealers, and over £15,000 in service invoices since 2018. All major work was performed at BMW Edinburgh by the previous keeper, who owned the car for more than nine years.
Wheels and tyres are in excellent condition, there’s no rust on the bodywork, and everything works as it should. The car will be supplied with a fresh 12-month MOT for peace of mind.
Walkaround video available on request. Viewing highly recommended – these early S50-powered Z3Ms are getting harder to find in such good order, with mileage, provenance and originality all lining up.
