Description
A 'Proper' LHD European Spec 205 Rallye
Overview:
A rare opportunity to acquire a true hot hatch hero! Over £4,500 spent in 2023 on a mechanical refresh and engine set up, it's ready for the nearest back road!!
The current advisory free MOT expires in July, it will be presented for a fresh MOT test upon sale along with a mechanical inspection & engine service.
The odometer shows 39,605 miles (quite possibly correct, but unverified due to lack of historic records & the KMPH speedometer being replaced with a MPH/KMPH unit)
If you aren't fully clued up on the differences between UK & EU market Rallye's, here is a quick overview. In the UK we got a 'dressed up' RHD 75hp 1.4 XS whereas the 'proper' one's are far rarer with a TU24 1.3 twin-carb motor, wider arches, no sound proofing, GTi brakes & suspension. History:
We have a letter from Peugeot confirming the vehicle was built on the 21st March 1989 in Sevel Nord, France for the French market
I have documents showing that it was 1st registered in Hungary in 1990, with subsequent registration documents, a technical investigation report and maintenance invoice. It was imported into the UK and registered on 01/06/2015 and has had 3 keepers since. Present with the vehicle is the current V5 registration document, current and historic MOT certificates, 3x keys, an original owners handbook and maintenance invoices. A CarVertical check has been carried out which checks 900 data sources in 35 countries to uncover previous damage/theft/natural disasters etc that may have occurred none of which were found.
Condition:
Presented in well loved and enjoyed condition, it is a straight little thing and solid throughout with a few areas showing signs that it has been used just as PTS intended. The wheels are straight and free from damage and wrapped in a matching set of Yoko A539's with no damage and with very deep tread. Inside is all in good order and all electrical items work as they should. The dashboard and various panels have been flocked (to reduce glare) and the seats have been re-upholstered in leather in period (original fabrics are available if you wish to re-trim)
There are no signs of it ever having a roll cage fitted, so unlikely to have seen any competitive action. It has bonnet pins fitted and preparation for twin light pods that are not fitted but included in the sale. The Meije White paint presents well overall, boot shows signs of previous paintwork with some filler shrinkage and the front bumper has a reasonable amount of gravel rash, gaps are all good and it's well preserved overall, no structural corrosion - just occasional light spots consistent with an unrestored example.
