Driving and Performance The Transit Custom PHEV combines an impressive 2.5-litre petrol engine with an 11.8kWh battery, allowing an electric-only drive for up to 35 miles (from Ford). Just like the E-Transit Custom, this plug-in hybrid van is a front-wheel drive. There are various driving modes: normal, eco, sport, tow and slippery. The most important aspect about this van is able to tow a trailer of up to 2.3t. The power of the Ford Transit Custom PHEV would suggest that the van would be noisy, but this definitely is not the case. The PHEV is quieter than the diesel counterparts but slightly louder than the all-electric van. Loading and Interior The Transit Custom plug-in hybrid has impressive performance, but this van is also practical for loading. The load area can be accessed through twin rear doors that can open to 90 degrees and 180 degrees. There are also sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle with a step entry for easy access. The dashboard features a Ford 13-inch Sync 4 infotainment touchscreen as well as an 8-inch digital information screen. The PHEV van has a 12v socket, two USB ports and three cup holders.
