Description
Climbing into the Mokka X, you immediately feel like you're getting more than just a small crossover. There’s a solid, rugged SUV stance — chunky wheels, elevated ride height, and those bold style touches that say “I can go places” even if most of those places are city streets.
???? Performance & Driving Fun
Under the bonnet is the 1.4-litre turbocharged Ecotec petrol engine, producing around 138-140 PS (~138 bhp).
You’ve got to live with turbo lag at low revs, but once you're past that, it gives a willing surge. Overtakes are reasonable; motorway driving doesn’t feel strained. The car doesn’t pretend to be a hot hatch, but there’s enough zest to keep things interesting.
If you choose the manual variant: it gives more control, adds a bit of driver involvement. If you go for an auto (in models that offer it), gear changes are smooth — helpful in stop-start traffic or longer runs.
Acceleration isn’t neck-snapping, but acceptable: 0-62 mph is in the region of ~9.9-10.1 seconds in many specs.
???? Economy, Practicality & Everyday Use
The Mokka X is surprisingly usable in everyday life. Boot space is decent: ≈ 356 litres with seats up, which gives enough room for groceries, backpacks, or weekend gear. Fold them down and you get a flat (or nearly flat) load floor and much more space.
Fuel economy is realistic but not miraculous. Expect combined mpg in the low to mid 40s (mpg) depending on driving manner, traffic, etc. Around 43-45 mpg claimed in many specs; real life tends to be a bit lower.
CO? emissions are fairly typical for its class: around ~145-150 g/km in many versions.
