Description

This has been my favourite MX but at 65, I am not so much into sporty driving anymore, also I have 6 grandchildren and they don't fit in the back! They also live up in London and since it's not ULEZ compliant I have had to get a bigger convertible. I have looked after the car service wise and in the main it has been looked after by a MX 5 MK2 specialist. It's Jasper Conran edition so the carpets are super nice and my wife says the leather seats are the most comfortable of any car we have ever owned! It has the straight 1800 engine without any electronics on top of it so it looks like a Lotus twin cam under the bonnet which I like. This engine seems really smooth and torquie. I prefer it to the 1600. It sticks to the road like it's on rails, and in fact I bought a set of hollow hubbed wheels from a MK1 to make it slower! I have put the proper wheels back on for the sale however as you can see. I had intended to keep the car for ever and repair and restore as a classic but my parking has now become restricted. It's a vintage vehicle and not perfect so the buyer should be prepared to continue to keep it going, which is worthwhile as I think it is great fun to drive and looks like a proper sports car of the past. When the car worked for me logistically - before the grandkids, ULEZ and parking restrictions I would often think when I was driving it "I don't want to drive anything else" it just connects me with drivingness so satisfyingly. The next job to do is the roof. It has been repaired as can be seen in the photos and it doesn't leak but and works fine but it's going to need done sooner or later. Although the cars electrics work fine and the battery charges as normal the non charging light stays on all the time. I bought it like this years ago and the mechanics say, "It is doing everything it is supposed to do but the light stays on, you might as well disconnect it." I don't have equipment to prove this so you should come prepared to check for yourself if you want proof. The door cards are swelling up a bit and that is another job on my list so that could be sorted out if you want it perfect. It's got a space saver spare wheel and jack etc. I washed the carpet from the boot and left it drying on top of another car, forgot about it , drove off in it and lost it so that could be replaced. It's going to get sunny soon so it's a pretty good time to set oneself up for some wind it the hair thrills!
