What made us like this one was not one huge option or one headline figure, it was how complete it felt as an actual car to use. It has had one owner from new, it has been maintained properly, the specification covers the things we would want ourselves and, after driving it, it just felt like a very sorted Defender 90. The previous owner had kept it from new and only sold it after buying a brand-new 2026 Porsche 911, so there is a nice, simple ownership story behind it. The driving experience surprised us more than anything. The P300 petrol engine suits the car far better than we expected. It is smooth, responsive and does not feel like a smaller engine struggling to move a large SUV. The seating position is excellent, visibility is great and the air suspension gives it a really comfortable ride without making it feel vague or cumbersome. The specification is also exactly where we would want it. Heated and cooled front seats are a big one, as is the Meridian sound system, while the 360-degree cameras and digital rear-view mirror make a short-wheelbase Defender far easier to place than its shape initially suggests. It also has blind-spot assist, Apple CarPlay, digital dashboard, memory seats and Wade Sensing. It is sitting on matching Land Rover-rated Goodyear Wrangler tyres on all four corners, which we were also impressed with. They suit the car visually, but more importantly they are not excessively noisy or droney on the road. The brakes are also in very good condition. The history is predominantly Land Rover main dealer, with services recorded in 2023 and 2025, and we have since carried out a further oil service, inspection, pollen filter, air filter, brake fluid and wipers. Condition inside is very nice and the black perforated leather works well against the Santorini Black exterior. For us, this one is less about trying to make a Defender sound exciting on paper and more about the fact that it has one owner, the right specification, proper tyres and drives noticeably well.
