For sale is my Mini Cooper S R56
And it is a properly good one
This is the later N18 car which is important because the earlier N14 engine had a habit of turning ownership into an unexpected evening course in mechanical engineering
The N18 is the one you want
And when everything is working as it should the R56 Cooper S is an absolute riot. Small quick front wheel drive and with steering that actually tells you what the front wheels are doing. It has that famous go kart feeling that everyone talks about because annoyingly it really does feel like one
This one is completely stock too
No enormous exhaust. No questionable remap. No pop and bang nonsense terrifying pensioners outside Tesco
It also has a very good spec with the Chili Pack heated leather seats a cooled glovebox and a panoramic sunroof which makes the whole cabin feel considerably bigger and more expensive than it actually is
I've owned it for just over a year and spent money on the things that actually matter
Yokohama front tyres
Air conditioning regassed and now ice cold
High pressure fuel pump replaced at 80k
Timing chain replaced at 83k
The last two are particularly important because they're two of the big jobs on a Cooper S of this age and they've already been done
There are two things still to sort
An O2 sensor is causing the check engine light and the rear brake pads need replacing
Neither is the end of civilisation and I've knocked a few hundred quid off the price to account for them
Apart from that it's been properly cared for and it's ready to drive away today
It's fast it's small it's well specced it hasn't been messed with and most importantly someone else has already paid for the expensive bits
Which in the world of used hot hatchbacks is about as good as it gets
