introduced in 1972, the BMW 5 Series went on to become the market leader in four door luxury executive saloons, with the seventh generation of this model still being produced today.The second generation E28, was produced from 1981 to 1988 and offered with 1.8l to 3.5l petrol engines and it also became the first BMW car to come fitted with a diesel-powered option.In total 722,328 cars were produced to sell worldwide before the E28 was eventually replaced with the third generation E34 model in 1988. First registered on the 27th of November 1987, this BMW appears to have spent its early years in the Guildford area judging by its registration number. It is believed to have been originally bought by a local doctor who then let it on to his driver.Little is known of its intermediate history but looking back over the last 15 years of MoT test results one can assume that it has been very well looked after. With only 3 failures all of which were due to minor and very simple to fix issues, this 5 series has only covered approximately 7,000 miles during all this time, this equates to only 460 miles a year on average.I believe this points towards being enthusiast owned for the recorded years, it's certainly lived a closeted life. There have only been 4 previous owners since new.Bought by myself in September last year from a friend I've decided to part company with this lovely 5 Series Mot certificate until April 2022.A few old Mot certificates are in the folder which also includes a few bills for small items.INTERIORVery '80 inside, with blue velour upholstery, black dash and white roof lining, all of which are all in excellent condition. All of the seats are free of marks stains or burns and are in remarkable condition. Carpets and door cards follow along the same lines as the seats and are very clean and virtually unmarked.The manual sunroof operates as it should and all electrics including radio and ariel are in full working order.This interior is really in time warp condition and if looked after, will give good service to any new owner. Finished in white, the paintwork is original..There are one or two blemishes but overall the car represents itself very well.mechanically the car drives very well running up and down the gears with ease and no clunks or rattles from the suspension.
