If you are genuinely looking to buy an E-type and would like to find out more then call me for a chat, but for now all you need to know is this... My E-type is a manual open top 1966 Series 1 in beautiful condition that has been lovingly cared for and comes with a very interesting history. I have spared no expense maintaining the car and it lives in a heated, air conditioned garage and been maintained by a highly respected E-type garage who have undertaken any work required. In my experience the most important thing to consider when buying an E-type is the condition of the bodywork. It is scary buying a car that has recently been resprayed or undercoated because this can so easily be a way of hiding rust. Much better to buy a car that has had a bare metal renovation a number of years ago. That way you can see how the body has held up over time. If it was a "bodge job" then the rust will have started to show. The other thing to concern yourself with is the maintenance record. E-types can soon run up big bills at the garage so you want to make sure that the car you buy comes with proof of work undertaken. Finally, unless you are a genuine E-type specialist yourself, then get one to go over the car before you buy! The E-type owners club is a good place to find someone qualified to do the job. As for my car it is a completely genuine example with no known problems to put off a buyer. It is highly unlikely that you will have any big bills to deal with in the short term, and you can feel completely confident that you will be buying a very genuine car.
