Refined & Upgraded Powertrain The petrol-only powertrain in the previous models has also been replaced, with MG's new Hybrid+ system now taking centre stage. This will see a 1.5-litre petrol combustion engine supported by an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack which offers an efficient self-charging hybrid solution. The Hybrid+ powertrain makes its debut with the new MG 3 and comprises five core components: engine, transmission, battery, electric motor, and generator. While prioritizing efficiency, with a claim it achieves up to 64mpg, this electrified technology also boasts impressive performance capabilities. The MG3 equipped with the Hybrid+ powertrain emerges as the fastest accelerating hybrid supermini, achieving a remarkable 0-100km/h (0-62mph) sprint time of 8.0 seconds. Accelerating from 80-120km/h (50-75mph) is equally impressive, taking just 5.0 seconds. Generating a combined output of 143kW, the MG3 Hybrid+ achieves fuel economy figures of 4.4l/100km (64mpg) and emits 100g/km CO2. This efficiency is further enhanced by a 1.83kWh battery, enabling a substantial electric-only driving range.
