Description

Hot on the heels of Team BMW UK's Andy Priaulx claiming the FIA World Touring Car Championship, BMW announced details of a limited-edition version of their 2006 World Touring Car - the BMW 320si Saloon. SB is delighted to offer this lovely example finished in Carbon-Schwarz.To the untrained eye, this may look like a normal E90, however to those in the know it's something very rare and special indeed. Built as a homologation special, it was produced to meet the requirements of the 2006 World Touring Car Championship - with only 2,600 being made (500 sold in the UK).With its headline feature being the engine, which has recently undergone a complete overhaul by MJR MiniMatt - the bespoke N45B20 was originally built at BMW's Hams Hall plant near Coventry. Far from a simple tweak of the standard 148bhp 2.0-litre engine, this version is engineered to rev higher with altered bore and stroke, larger induction and exhaust valves, and a higher compression ratio. The cylinder liners are made of aluminium alloy, not cast iron, and the engine omits BMW's Valvetronic system. The cylinder head is even cast alongside BMW's F1 engines. All this along with a carbon fibre cam cover equates to a 10kg weight saving on the engine alone.Beyond the sporty suspension, the M Sports Package-standard on this special model-includes BMW's Aerodynamics Package with redesigned bumpers, side skirts, and 18-inch wheels taken directly from the WTCC car. Larger brake discs (300mm all around), sports seats with electric lumbar and bolster adjustment, an M alcantara steering wheel, and interior carbon trim by AB Carbon further enhance the package. When you combine the weight-saving, compulsory manual gearbox, razor sharp throttle response and improved performance from that hand-built engine, what results is a proper driver's car which thrives on real-world B-roads. Next MOT due 20/03/2025, Black, 5+ owners, £5,995
