Description
Mini was Cat N for water damage, no body damage. When I got the car it ran no problem but if it was left to idle it started to misfire very slightly. There was no sign of water ingress anywhere so a few checks were carried out. No1 cylinder was slightly down on compression but still within limits. Because it was cat N for water damage the head was removed. At first there was no signs of damage but then it was clear the No1 piston was slightly lower than the other two . Piston and con rod removed and the rod was bent. New rod fitted and engine rebuilt. Misfire still present after changing plugs, injectors, coil packs and ecu checked. At the point I don't want to spend any more money on the car so I'm reluctantly selling it on so maybe someone can fix the problem. It may be an easy fix but I haven't got the time any more. The car is very well equipped and is in very good condition inside and out. I'm sure someone could make this into a very nice car if they can figure out the misfire problem. Should have said that the car runs perfectly when the revs are above 1500 rpm, no misfires. Next MOT due 17/09/2025, Part service history, Black, 3 owners, £2,950
