This car has a unique history. In 2014 it was prepped by Rally Preparation Services, Witney with strengthened rear springs and a professionally manufactured sump-guard in preparation for that years Mongol Rally. The trip was completed without a hiccup and she returned to Europe from Mongolia as cargo on the Trans Siberian railway. She was kept in the owners garage for the next 9 years doing only a few hundred miles each year. I bought her in 2023 with the intention of doing the same however the finish of the 2024 Mongol Rally was changed to Kazachstan due to geopolitical events. Not to be outdone we organised our own trip of a lifetime. 6 person, 3 car, 10,000 mile, 10 week trip from the UK to Ulanbattar, Mongolia, via Iran and Turkmenistan. She performed faultlessly throughout cruising at motorway speeds through Europe with the sump-guard keeping the underside safe on the rougher tracks later on. Shipped back to the UK by container arriving home in mid-December. Just had a major service by Ford with special attention to the suspension, wheels, tyres, and steering - all in top condition. Prior to the trip the car was serviced and the cam-belt changed. We also had the oil changed at the midpoint in Uzbekistan.
