The Ariel Atom Mugen is a unique, limited-edition car created to mark the 10th anniversary of the Ariel Atom. Developed in collaboration with Mugen (Honda's family-founded yet independent tuning arm), it is a high-spec version of the Ariel Atom 3 with significant performance upgrades. It uses the well-known 2.0-litre Honda K20Z Type R engine, tuned by Mugen, to deliver 270 bhp and 255 Nm of torque. The engine is naturally aspirated and features bespoke Mugen components, including upgraded camshafts, pistons, and valves, to enhance power and responsiveness. With a weight of just 550 kg (1,212 lbs), the power-to-weight ratio is extraordinary, making it capable of 0-62 mph in around 2.9 seconds. It has some unique visual touches, including red and white livery, white wheels, and Mugen badges. It retains the open-frame, minimalist design of the Atom, still with some bespoke elements, such as Alcon brake calipers, a limited-slip diff, carbon fibre bucket seats, and carried over from the V8 was the suspension and digital dash on the steering wheel. This car, in particular, is believed to be unique. It is the only Mugen built to Atom 3.5 spec, the update to Atom 3 that didn't arrive until 2012.
