This is my beloved 1997 2.0L Hyundai coupe that I have owned since I was 17 years old. Originally bought as a barn find. Over the years as a trained mechanic I have installed many performance upgrades to this car which I will list below.
Upgrades:
- Fully Ported and polished cylinder head
- Valves polished to mirror finish
- Fully ported and polished intake manifold including gasket matching
- Throttle body upgraded to 70mm size
- Lightweight aluminium pulleys installed
- Lightweight 11lbs flywheel installed
- Stainless steel decat double Jap exhaust system
- Stainless steel exhaust headers
- Heat wrapped exhaust headers
- Mishimoto performance cooling radiator installed
- Drilled and grooved brake discs
- Braided brakelines
- Full Coilover suspension installed
- AC Pully & Compressor delete
- Power steering pully & system delete
- Weight reduction now weighing 1100kg down from original 1600kg
- Bucket seats
- Momo steering wheel and mount
- 3 point seat belt harness
- Various dashboard gauges installed (couple of which need rewiring again due to corroded ground wires)
- Crank case ventilation breather pipe rerouted for cleaner combustion
- Full Bluetooth stereo
- Custom body kit including spoiler
- Light weight team dynamics alloy wheels (you will not find lighter) very expensive
- 3 inch cold air intake installed
- Bonnent vents for air flow and cooling
Due to the extensive upgrades of this vehicle the next job I was going to perform was a remap. The engine currently does not idle until hot or in closed loop cycle for those with mechanical knowledge. When cold and in open loop cycle the throttle must be monitored to maintain idle. Once warm the car has no running issues.
I believe the engine is sitting just over 200hp at the moment.
The car does not currently have an MOT however the car has done under 200 miles since its last MOT. I would be more than happy to get a new MOT done for the buyers piece of mind.
