Now here's an ideal first car that's not ridiculously priced. Finished in what VW call Blue Anthracite metallic, it's been properly looked after by it's previous owners and we have just very thoroughly serviced it with a new air filter, GENUINE VW oil and oil filter, new spark plugs, a new pollen filter and we've fitted brand new Brake Pads - which addresses the "Advisory" on the MOT. It doesn't have some of the optional extras coveted by today's 17 year olds, like Alloy wheels and electric front windows, but it is the cheapest Polo to insure and still comes with very good safety features like AIRBAGS for driver and front passenger, ABS with HBA (hydraulic brake assist) which puts extra pressure in the brake lines in hazardous situations, and side impact beams concealed in the doors. Speed sensitive power steering with a height and reach adjustable steering wheel are standard, as is Central Locking. Of course there's a Radio/CD player and eBay has a selection of Bluetooth phone charging plugs which enable a playlist to be played through the car's speakers. It's not perfect but I have thought for along time that to buy a perfect car for a new driver is ill-advised - as soon as they scratch it or dent it, they'll feel terribly terribly guilty. Much better to set them up with a car with the odd scratch or dent and the guilt feelings are markedly reduced. It's a fact of life, the statistics prove that they will at some stage have a minor accident.
