BMW 528i Touring: 3 litre normally aspirated straight six with the classic N52 (probably the best engine BMW ever made) in the classy F11 SE shape. 2011 plate & Japanese import in 2024. The last year before petrol 5-series went across to the less sexy & less reliable 2 litre turbo lump. Gaijin smash!
Low miles - 39k - & it's been only motorway travel (6k) since I bought it last January as the first UK owner from sunny Japan. Badged 528i but due to Asian emission standards the Europe to Japan export 528i's are actually re-badged 530i with 272 bhp. On import the vehicle was given a fully comprehensive health check & service & in my ownership was serviced back in September as I'm meticulous about these things. It really is a very tidy vehicle from top to bottom.
From what we surmise via my Japanese sister-in-law this was the ride of a high-level Salary man* who cherished the car hence it's very low mileage. Mr Salaryman specced it up with 19inch M-Sport alloys, M-Sport boot liner, detachable towbar (I'm guessing jetski) tinted glass of course & memory seats to make those hours of honest graft just drift away.
*I think a Yakuza boss owned it but my wife made me remove that bit. You can imagine what actually happened in the spacious boot.
I needed a motorway cruiser for weekly visits caring for a sick relative, & now unfortunately due to a change in circumstances we don't need this beauty anymore. It's easily the nicest car I've ever owned; silky smooth & with tons of power on tap. Very refined until you drop it into sport mode & put your foot down - then that inline 6 engine growls like an angry tiger.
It's all very luxurious inside, with immaculate beige leather, comfy seats & all the little bits of tech just work without being a super computer (that goes wrong) like more modern rides. It's a real load champion too, fitting tons of cargo as well as driving you in style.
Low tax bracket as an import & ULEZ compliment it's the ideal family wagon, & dare I say it the ultimate sleeper. Classic understated SE good looks that with the larger rims add a nice touch of attitude, & if you wanted to take someone out on a date you could literally eat your dinner off the spotless engine bay. Condition is super nice topside & underneath; a few minor bodywork blemishes as you would expect from a 14 year old vehicle but if you whacked a set of private plates on you'd struggle to work out the age.
