Description
An ULTRA RARE original Press car from JLR used to launch the Facelift. With a 2012 model year and VIN, that was the one of 3 registered in the UK for the press as the first off the line in July 2011.
The XKR press cars share almost all of their components with the XK-RS. Suspension, exhaust tuning, Performance Seat interior, Stealth, Speed, and Black pack. Other than the body kit they were essentially identical to the XK-RS. This one with a special twist...
The first private owner in 2013 confimed his suspicions of JLR magic in his new car by putting it on a dyno and sure enough... 592.6 Unmodified by anyone before or since. This thing can eat SVRs for breakfast, or take your 4 year old to school serenely.
Any experienced XKR owner will confess to you the interior tech is dissapointing and dates from 2006 and was never seriously upgraded by JLR. At night the cabin can be dark compared to new vehicles. If you buy another XKR you will find this out too. There are some aftermarket solutions, and you get what you pay for.
I spent thousands bringing her up to date with modern in car technology. A full touch screen with Apple Car Play, Android Auto, 360 surround cameras, integrated fully into native car controls with a gloss black panel that matches the interior. 4g, Wifi onboard, and programmable Android home screens are also all there if you want, as are CAN interfaces for displaying hundreds of engine parameters. All connected to the delicious factory bowers and wilkins 1200w system.
Interior lighting was also upgraded with programmable LED lighting in the doors, speakers, headlining and map pockets to provide a great nightime ambience. In the external areas, old yellow bulbs were upgraded to LEDs for license plates, mirror lights, and footwells (finished in Jaguar Phosphor blue).
I've had 4 XKRs, but THIS vehicle is the epitome of the XKR as it was meant to be experienced. Incredible performance, amazing chasis dynamics, discrete OR roaring exhaust, and dynamic or cosseting drive. Added to this DNA state of the art infotainment, flawless mechanicals, with a week old MOT with of course, no advisories. Fully serviced and ready, great tyre life, and nothing to do on the car.
I love cars, and as my last XKR project. Its time for a new up and coming project vehicle so after 18 months of extremely happy and flawless owner experience, I am letting her go.
Whoever buys it....will smile all the way home.
