Description
How does arguably the finest hot hatch ever created improve itself? For starters, why not team up with a pre-eminent tyre maker to create a Limited Edition version of said hot hatch that includes an uprated engine and suspension? And that is precisely what Volkswagen did when they did a collab with Pirelli to celebrate the end of the MK5 Golf GTi production run. Generally considered to be much better resolved than both the MK3 and MK4 dynamically, the MK5 was a new generation of performance GTi that the brand needed. To that end, the Pirelli Edition wasn't based on guff; it was a celebration of a very good car. And when the result was as special as it proved to be, it makes us here at SB appreciate it that much more. So it's no surprise how thrilled we are to be offering this stunning 2008 Golf MK5 GTi Pirelli Edition, in black no less, on our platform. For a bit more background, the Pirelli Edition is based on the Edition 30 with its suspension that was 20mm lower than the standard MK5 GTi's. It has the same EA113 "BYD" TSI engine from the Edition 30, too, which gave it a 30hp boost to 227bhp plus an extra 14lb-ft, taking the total torque to 221lb-ft. Further, you couldn't get a set of Pirelli P Zeros on an ordinary Golf GTI, and to really ram this point home the Pirelli Edition had the tread pattern embossed into the Alcantara centre section of the part-leather seats. A nice touch, indeed. Furthermore, the Pirelli Edition has exclusive contrasting yellow stitching, which appeared on the steering wheel as well, and there was a yellow Pirelli logo mounted above the glovebox. All very cool. This particularly Pirelli Edition has been with the current seller for the last 2 years and has been very well maintained.
