Reluctantly, I'm selling my beloved 2012 Fiat 500. As recently as last year, this car has driven us to southern Spain, France and the Netherlands. Agile on the road, comfortable and well preserved interior, great exterior condition for a car this age. This really is a great car. Of course, in true Fiat style, she has some quirks. (More images coming.) ~ Two keys (but remote locking key does not work; can likely be fixed, went through the wash). ~ No MOT. It didn't fail, we just knew we were getting a new car. Had few advisories at last pass, including small oil leak. ~ New clutch in mid-2024. This was done at F1 Autocentre in Burgess Hill and is still very much under warranty. (Since replacement has had a "hot" smell when reversing. Hasn't proved to be a problem in any meaningful way but you're welcome to take it up with them!) ~ Very low road tax. ~ 126000 miles, 40000 driven by me, more or less without incident. ~ Good-looking off-white dash to match interior with comfortable cloth seats (fairly unmarked for a 13 year-old car) ~ 12v in-car charger has never worked; will keep a phone alive but will not charge it. Aux, radio, and CD player all good. ~ Electric windows and panoramic sunroof I will be sad to lose (why don't other cars have this?). ~ Fuel light is permanently on and fuel gauge reads permanently empty; it isn't leaking, it's still pretty economical for a non-hybrid. This is a sensor issue, expensive to fix, and will not hinder your MOT if you tell them in advance. ~ Good boot space and generally very roomy for a small car. We've packed up to mainland Europe for a three-week trip in this car and we do not pack light. ~ A little creaky, especially over the speed bumps, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a car this age. ~ Runs a little hot, so needs water and oil carefully maintained. ~ Grinds a little in first gear. This has been the case since I bought the car in 2021; it's a non-issue, has never flagged on the MOT, but it's a little noisy. Goes away as you move up the gears. Likely a stuck pin or similar. ~ Responsive steering and great acceleration.(She goes fast and doesn't hate hills.) ~ Has "Start/Stop" engine function, but this hasn't worked since a gearbox fix in 2022. Likely a simple fix. ~ Cupholders, dash shelf, door storage, seat-back storage. Again, surprisingly roomy. ~ Healthy battery, recently checked. Doesn't love the winter, but who does?
