LHD Karmann Cabriolet |12 Months MOT | Rebuilt Engine | Interesting History | New Heat Exchangers | HPI Clear | Solid Floor |Lots Spent It started off it's life being manufactured 5 November 1979 and was exported to Jacksonville America and it comes complete with it's 'birth certificate' (see image). I have had it the last twelve months since it was featured on the TV programme Dream Car Fixers. Their mechanics carefully sourced the vehicle from Star Car Hire that used it as a wedding car in Ireland. I understand it has has had a body off respray about six years ago where it also had a new interior, mohair hood etc. The painter said it was 'the best beetle he had seen'. I have copies of the Irish MOTs under it's registration of UIA 8000. They registered it back in England. As part of the project they undertook lots of work: New clutch New alloys and tyres Engine chromed and tinware painted Lots of other improvements which are listed Since me having the car, the TV company also treated it to a full top engine rebuild (cylider heads, piston rings, air pipes etc.) for 1,600 by a specialist Beetle garage. They confirmed it is solid underneath and a good example. As you will appreciate it is a forty six year old car and I have done additional work that was recommended included the heat exchangers, new trims etc but next on the list would be some minor improvements such as new running boards and a wax oil treatment (I have held on this as it has been garaged and I wanted to check the floor which is great per the mechanics). It really is a lovely car but unfortunately I have not had the time to use it much and I have a new opportunity that me and it is time to let a new owner enjoy it for fun drives or going to car shows.
