Description
The Cayman, like the Boxster, has gone on to be a rave success and has even drifted into Porsche's prestigious GT department's workshops producing the frankly bananas GT4 and GT4 RS. This example though, is a 987, more specifically a 987.2 Cayman S.
Externally the car is finished in the rare optional GT Silver, a colour that iconically adorned the bodywork of the Carrera GT. It sits on an optional set of 19" Carrera sport wheels and offer a wider stance than other options, housed behind them are a set of red callipers.
Step inside and you start to see the appeal of the Cayman over its competitors. The build quality, the materials and the fit and finish are excellent. This car is finished with a rare two-tone grey leather option that features contrast stitching.
The interior is also home to the Porsche PCM 3.0 communication system, which offers iPod connectivity amongst other things. The car also features an audio upgrade package comprised of an ASK 9-Speaker and AMP set-up.
The engine is mid-mounted in the Cayman, so it's packaged underneath a trimmed engine cover. It's a 3.4-litre flat six that utilises direct injection to produce 320bhp, all of which is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox equipped with an optional short-shifter. The car also benefits from a switchable exhaust system, for maximum fun and practicality. The Cayman, in general, is renowned for its already excellent handling characteristics, but this car benefits from Porsche's excellent PASM, active suspension. An expensive and highly desirable option. There is no doubt in anyones mind that Porsche have firmly cemented the Boxster and Cayman in the sportscar history books. Whilst the average eye might be drawn to the big wings and carbon fibre adorned RS models, the true pure package can be found in these early cars. This example equipped with a manual gearbox and a set of rare options could just be the sweet spot.
As with all our vehicles, a full digital folder is available on request containing more images, walk-around videos, and scans of the service history. The car can also be viewed by appointment at our West London showroom.
