Description
This car was registered as a dealer demonstrator in July 2005. In February 2006 it was sold to its second owner who kept the car until 2016 when I bought it, showing 79,000 miles. The mileage is now 194,000. It has been my daily driver during the last eight years and I have averaged about 1,100 miles monthly.
Most of the maintenance has been carried out by Jagutek in Ely, Cambridgeshire. It has been serviced by them 10 times during my ownership and once by a local garage during Covid. I have a total of 49 invoices for money I have spent on maintenance for the car, they are all in the history folder for the car which I can show to any prospective buyer; 26 of these are from Jagutek. The last service at Jagutek was done with the MOT just before Christmas. My total expenditure on maintenance for this car is GBP 14,582, that is an average GBP 144 monthly. It has been my daily driver and above all, it has to be reliable.
Fuel consumption is always over 30mpg on any open road run, a regular Norwich to Devon round trip of 700 miles is always 32-34 mpg. The body is aluminium so comparatively light, which helps with the fuel consumption. It is happy to run on E10 supermarket petrol and doesn't need the more expensive E5 grade.
When I bought this car, I had made a decision that I didn't want the diesel version, because there could have been potential issues with turbo, DPF, and EGR systems, which a petrol one does not have.
Being registered in 2005, road tax VED is currently GBP 415 per year, or GBP 36.31 if you pay it monthly. The same car registered on or after 23.03.2006 would be GBP 710! It is Euro 4 petrol compliant and is ULEZ exempt.
The gearbox has had two oil and filter changes during my ownership.
Tyres are Pirelli P-Zero all round, approximately GBP 270 each, with plenty of tread. According to the speed rating, these are good for 186 MPH...
It is coming up for 20 years old in July, so has the odd blemish here and there as you would expect for a car of this age and mileage. Having said that, I know I can go out to it now and immediately put another 700 miles to Devon and back on it and do no more than put petrol in it. Only reason I am selling is because I now have a Jaguar XK, my 10th Jaguar over the last 32 years.
The last change of Log book is recorded as 03.02.2025, which is when I removed my cherished personalised number plate. Registration is now LS05 XJF.
